Today, Friday 15 Jan. 10, my family and I had gone to the V. A. Hospital for an appointment. When the appointment was over, we took a drive to Camp Maryhill, than went to the Kent Plantation House. This was the best of any tours we have gone on and the personnel at the plantation were the best of any tour guides, admin, and just plain people we have met. We were amassed at the history the Kent Plantation had and were told more about the “Plantation Days” in Louisiana.

I love to tour these places because you learn more about the area, time, and era that schools teach you. There were a lot of things we didn’t know and some we did. But the guided tour was the best source of information I learned from today. The way the buildings were built; that the jobs were from the Master all the way to what the slaves did. This was the best history lesson I had since I graduated from high school and college.

We visited the Myrtles last month and were given the history of that plantation; however, we didn’t receive much information as we did at Kent Plantation House. We just given the basics of the plantation and that was about all. Our tour guide went into more details about plantation life and we could have sat there all day to learn more. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the plantation. As I said, the information we received today was the best history class I had.

It would be to your benefit to visit the Kent Plantation House and learn what you can about its history and the people who built and own this wonderful place. And for everyone information, that was all we talked about coming back to Lafayette and have told several of our friends it’s a must see place the next time they go to Alexandria.

We also gave the Kent Plantation House 5 Stars.

I loved the museum.
Just wanted to comment on what was disappointing, there was no discount rate for Disabled Veterans.
Why would Disabled Vets be excluded?
