The Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame Offers Fun and Education. Louisiana has a number of wonderful things for people to see and do when they come there on vacation. From sampling the great southern food to walking the streets of New Orleans, something will appeal to everyone. A very interesting place to visit is The Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame in Winnfield, which happens to be the birthplace of three governors – Huey Long, Earl Long, and O.K. Allen.
Many Opportunities for Fun at the Hodges Garden Paved Wilderness Area. Many people come to Louisiana to experience the natural beauty that the state offers. One of the best places to go and experience some of the botanical wonders is at the Hodges Garden Paved Wilderness Area. It is a great place to relax and have a fun day with the family.
Touring the House and Grounds at the Kent Plantation House. The Kent Plantation House, located in Alexandria, Louisiana is a fine example of French colonial architecture and offers visitors a glimpse into the past. Built more than 200 years ago, the house is one of the oldest standing structures in Louisiana. The plantation house, along with the other buildings on the property, served as a working farm during the colonial era.
Kate Chopin House - Natchitoches, Louisiana
Kate Chopin is considered to be a forerunner of the feminest movement. Born in 1850 she wrote such books as The Awakening which was met with shock and outrage by the people of the era. She wrote short stories and novels before she withdrew from the writing world because of the difficulties of acceptance of her works. Later she was recognized as a great writer. Prior to her withdrawl she wrote for magazines such as Vogue, Atlantic Monthly and others.
