Baton Rouge has more than the Tigers

Baton Rouge is very well known for their Louisiana State University Tigers.  This fabulous college is a great place to visit and take in some sports, but there are also many other things to do in Baton Rouge.

If you are visiting this great city, of course you should stop by LSU.  The college has had many great athletes adorn its fine walls, including Shaquille O’Neal.  If you like sports, be sure to stop by the Jack and Priscilla Andonnie Museum.  Here you will find 54 sports displays, 30 banners and 24 TV and movie screens.  You can play Playstation and Xbox 360 games and then check out the hundreds of sports memorabilia throughout the museum.  You can also visit Shirley’s Doll Cove in the museum.  Home of a unique collection of nostalgic dolls, it is one of the largest private collections in America.  There are well over 1,500 dolls of every size and shape.

After you have visited the campus of LSU, head on over to Casino Rouge and play the slots.  There are over 1,100 of them including Double Lucky 7s and Towers of Powers.  There is a variety of entertainment there every weekend.  Make your plans to hit the slots and see some great musicians, but don’t forget to eat at their mouth watering restaurant, The Steakhouse at Hollywood Casino.  They will serve you everything from filet mignon to prime rib.  Don’t leave Louisiana without trying a crawfish stuffed pork chop.  It will melt in your mouth.

If it’s fun in the sun you are looking for, plan on spending the day at Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge.  There are many exciting attractions that you can ride on and get soaked.  It is perfect for a hot summer day.  Some of the famous attractions they offer are Voodoo, Azuka and Racers.  Voodoo is the world’s largest dark behemothbowl slide.  You will twist and turn with your family through the dark.  Ride it over and over because each time is a little different.  The Azuka is the world’s largest tornado ride.  You will need to hold onto a four person cloverleaf raft while taking the ride of your life.  Racers is the world’s largest racer slide.  Race your friends and family from the top of the slide to the very bottom.  You never know who the winner may be.

While spending the day here, don’t worry about bringing food.  They offer everything you could possibly want to eat at a park.  From hotdogs and hamburgers to nachos and chef salads, you will be amazed at the amount of food served here.  You won’t get thirsty either.  They serve cold icees, lemonade, snowballs and even beer.  Spend your day in Baton Rouge.
