Everyone will Love a Trip to the Louisiana Purchase Garden and Zoo. Louisiana has a number of wonderful activities to do for the whole family. One of the most fun things for families to do while on vacation is to visit a zoo. Those who come to the town of Monroe will find that the Louisiana Purchase Garden and Zoo has everything a family could ask for in a zoo.

Guests to the zoo will find more than 500 animals from a variety of different species, as well as other attractions. Throughout the year, the zoo holds a number of different festivals and special events. You may want to see if there are any of these special events happening when you will be in the area.

Visitors can see many different types of furry, feathered and scaled creatures on their visit to the Louisiana Purchase Garden and Zoo. Some of the animals that you will be able to see on your trip are owls, geese, tarantulas, cottonmouth moccasins, warthogs, tigers, lemurs, lions, and a whole lot more.

When you take a boat ride, which operates from 10AM to 4:30PM, you will have the chance to see a number of animals that aren't visible from the walking paths. Some are hoofed animals and some are primates. In addition, you might be able to see some native Louisiana wildlife when you take the boat ride. Keep in mind that the boats do not operate from November 1 through March 1.

If you are in the area of Monroe, the zoo is a great place to take the whole family. Everyone who comes to the zoo is sure to have a great time with all there is to see and do. From feeding a giraffe to taking a leisurely boat ride to viewing some incredible animals, there is something for just about everyone to love.

The zoo is open throughout the year from 10AM to 5PM. The only days the zoo is closed are New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Admission to the zoo is $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for seniors 65 and over, and $3 for children 3 – 12 years old. Children 2 and under are free.

For the boat rides and wagon rides, visitors pay an extra $3 per person. For a saddleback ride on a horse, the cost is an extra $4.
